Fantastic location - in the shopping area as well as being very near to the opera, Hotel Sacher, historical buildings, museums, parliament etc.
Top Tip

Location of the Astoria is central to most of the places you might want to visit in Vienna. You can walk to most visitor attractions within 10 minutes, many are much closer. Breakfast buffet was superb, with good choice of dishes which were frequently replenished. Plenty of restaurants nearby for evening meals. Bathroom facilities modern and clean, with plenty of piping hot water. Beds were very comfortable. Decor generally classic and in keeping with the age of the hotel.

Art, architecture, history, music - Vienna has it all. There is so much to see and do that it's hard to choose. We spent a day visiting museums at the Hofburg Palace, enjoyed watching the horses at the Spanish Riding school being trained, (Tuesdays to Fridays mornings only) and our tour of the Opera House (1pm and 2pm tours in choice of 4 languages). The art history museum is enormous and full of old masters. Also a pleasant city for just strolling, people watching and window shopping. The Xmas markets have a nice atmosphere, although the one in front of the Rathaus was very crowded, and the Xmas lights are stunning. We skipped lunch so that we could indulge in coffee and cakes in the afternoon. Viennese coffee houses are a must-visit and so typical of the city. Plenty of classical music concerts to choose from, although we enjoyed a free organ recital in St Peter's Church.
