Graben hotel
The hotel is located in the heart of Vienna, on a quiet road just off the famous Graben shopping area. It is close to the Dortheun ( for art auctions) and antique shops. It is also perfectly situated for walking to the State Opera, Spanish Riding School and St Stephen's Cathedral. The nearest underground station is Stephans Platz.

Graben hotel
The Graben Hotel is housed in a traditional terraced building with an ornate pale stone façade. Though small, the lobby is pleasantly decorated, with lots of wood panelling, traditional furniture, a marble floor and patterned rugs. The 55 guestrooms are also fairly small, but their high ceilings prevent them from feeling cramped. They are designed in an Art Nouveau style and elegantly appointed with Italian-style furniture. The en suite bathrooms have tub/shower combinations. The hotel’s "Trattoria Santo Stefano" restaurant, on the ground floor, boasts a cosy, rustic atmosphere and serves home made pasta, fresh fish and traditional pizza. It also offers seasonal specialities such as asparagus, strawberries, salad, pumpkin and veal.
***Renovation works will be taking place on the roof level in order to create an additional floor within the hotel. Works will take place until April 2009 and part of the floor below will be sealed off during this time. Scaffolding will be in place on the outside of the hotel and the hotel will be closed from the 5th January to the 28th February 2009.***

Traditional hotel in an old building. My room was pretty basic with older functional furniture. Great central location and a good buffet breakfast.
Top Tip
All the Baroque grand buildings are impressive but not really very interesting. The buildings and art by Secessionists like Wagner, Olbrich, Klimt and Loos around 1900 are far more rewarding.

The allocated room was on the small side with very restricted outlook but adequate for the time we were using it.I would expect the hotel has larger rooms if required. Situated right in the centre of Vienna (no 1 District )majority of tourist attractions and a wide selection of restaurants within easy walking distance. The hotel itself has a nice Italian Restaurant.
