Kummer Hotel
The hotel is located in the heart of the shopping area of Vienna in the Mariahilfer Strasse. The city centre and West Railway Station are close by, as are the main tourist attractions of the State Opera, the Hofburg Palace and Spanish Riding School.

Kummer Hotel
Established by the family of the same name in the 19th-century, the Kummer Hotel is housed in an elegant 5-storey corner building with a richly embellished stone façade that features Corinthian capitals, urn-shaped balustrades, and representations of four heroic demigods staring down from under the eaves. The medium sized lobby is decorated in a traditional Viennese manner with warm brown and gold décor, complemented by a stunning chandelier and a grand, sweeping staircase that leads to the comfortably furnished accommodation. Varying in size, the 100 standard guestrooms feature warm-toned décor, cream furnishings and patterned bedspreads. All are clean and decently maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms. The hotel offers a Continental buffet breakfast – as well as regional and international cuisine for lunch and dinner – in its handsomely appointed restaurant. *** The hotel bar and restaurant are closed for refurbishment and should re-open in early October 2008. ***

The hotel bar and restaurant were closed for refurbishment which was a bit annoying as we didnt know this until we arrived. We were given vouchers for 1 cafe and 2 hotels but the hotels needed a tube journey to reach them.WE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS BEFORE WE ARRIVED.
Top Tip
Boheme restaurant(Spittelbergasse 19) fantastic.
Schweizerhaus(Prater) fantastic.Zu den 2 Lieserln,(Burggasse 63)Amazing schnitzels and cheap but maybe a little bit rough and ready for some tourists but it is where the locals eat which is always a good point.
SMOKING!!! The Austrians are proud of the fact that they dont have a smoking ban in bars and restaurants so this may upset a few people.
Hundertwasserhaus, a strange and weird building but worth a visit, great little shopping complex and you must visit the toilets!!!(really worth the 60 cents)
The Ubahn(tube)is excellent and cheap, and finally you must take the tour of the Spanish Riding School, very good English speaking guide.
